Jakob Preston became a Dance Instructor with “Dancin Ballroom” in 2015.
“Ballroom Dancing happened when a friend from theater needed a partner. She had started an internship and invited me to tag along. I wound up enjoying it, next thing I know I’m hired.”
Jakobs favorite style dances are the faster paced dance styles; the West Coast Swing, the Cha-Cha and the Rumba.
Jakob loves the new facility. “It allows us to offer so many more people to dance, it’s just amazing and such great fun.”
Antanas Pavlov has been dancing since age 10, winning numerous dance competitions and awards. Now over 30 years of dancing, and over 20 of those as a top dance instructor Antanas continues to pass on his passion and knowledge here at Dancin Ballroom of Leesburg. Growing up in Bulgaria, he was the Ballroom Dance Champion in 1995 and 1996.
“It was a great feeling and a lot of hard work”, says Antanas. “It’s in my heart to do International Latin, but honestly, I think the American smooth dances are the most beautiful.”
Antanas along with his wife, recently moved to Florida and he has been instructing dance enthusiast at the dance studio since June of 2019.
David Whittaker has been dancing for more than 5o years, starting with high school musicals and then enjoying and dancing the night away in his 20’s to the then Disco Craze. winning several disco contest he was a regular on the television show, “Super Disco” which led him to start teaching dance with the Arthur Murray Dance Studios.
“I enjoy being here at Dancin Ballroom in Leesburg. I have seen so many people over the years that I have helped start out on their dancing paths. It’s very rewarding when I see my dance students get the same benefits and enjoyment as I have throughout the years.”
Davids favorite dances? The Waltz and yes, The Hustle.
Jasmine “Jazzy” Durgin
Jazzy has been competing in ballroom dance competitions all over the country since 2009. Her favorite dances include; the Cha-Cha, Samba, Pasa Doble and the Jive.
“I get a total adrenaline rush from ballroom dancing. I like the performing aspect and have always loved being creative.” says Jazzy who began teaching at Dancin Ballroom in June 2019.
She leads the beginner group class lessons that can be found on our Dance Calendar.
